About ANBO

A not-for-profit association advancing evidence-informed neurodevelopmental and behavioural optometry.

The Association of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Optometrists (ANBO), formerly BABO, is a not-for-profit professional association dedicated to the evidence-based education of optometrists in the assessment and management of vision as a functional part of the wider neurological system.

We are committed to increasing both public and professional awareness of the role of vision in development and performance. Our public resources help patients and families better understand how vision supports learning, everyday activities and performance at all stages of life.

  • From BABO to ANBO

Our organisation was previously known as the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists (BABO).

Our new name, ANBO, reflects a clearer, more contemporary description of the vital work our members do every day.

While our name has evolved, our commitment remains the same: advancing education, promoting evidence-informed practice and supporting optometrists to deliver exceptional care.
